Employee Highlight: Junior Tiati

Bendworx welder Junior Tiati

Find out how our welders help create spectacular Australian steel.

Producing steel pipes and plates is no straightforward task – for metal workers and welders, it takes years of proper training to ensure safety and a perfect quality end product. Our expert staff here at Bendworx have been producing Australia’s best steel components since 2005.

To explain one of our many important roles, we spoke with Junior Tiati, who has been a welder at Bendworx for over five years.

What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I weld! I sub arc weld long seams on the rolled cans (cylinders) so they can be made into steel pipes. I also sometimes bevel plates for welding, and help out with smaller welding jobs.

What are the greatest challenges in your line of work?

Learning new weld procedures. When we first get a new one it’s really important to learn the right settings so I can make sure to get a good weld every time. Day to day there’s a lot of quality paperwork we have to do and staying on top of all that can be challenging, but I like proving we do a great job.

What do you love about working at Bendworx?

The people, for sure! I like learning new things, and better ways to do things, but it’s the people I work with that make every day great.
